Based on Raspberry Pie and ROS students start with a basic kit that when assembled they will be able to compete in basic challenges. From here the student is on their own to design, CAD, and 3D print customized solutions to compete in unique challenges. Bots are operated via a browser which gives students the same experience as the drivers of the Mars Rover, where they can only see what the bot sees. It also allows students with permission, to drive other students' bots from around the world.

Every student designs builds, and drives. Robot.300 is a unique long-term, open source robotics program for students who want to experience all aspects of robotics. Each year they modify their bot to compete in more difficult challenges with the guidance of local and community industry mentors. Over a two to three period students continually build on their own bot turning it from a project to a passion.
